A brooch story
This piece is inspired by the beauty of impermanence, as a reminder of how some things are beautiful precisely because they were never meant to last.
Petals were cut from a thin sheet of copper, shaped, and then curved to build organic floral forms. The main petal structure was soldered to a copper wire, and a copper tube was placed at the center along with colorful zirconias.
The cone structure was formed from a thick sheet of nickel silver, creating contrast between the natural, irregular forms and the clean geometric base. The copper flowers have a touch of Liver of Sulfur patina to give them their rainbow of colors.
